Manchester United handed fresh injury concern ahead of their upcoming EPL match vs Bournemouth.

Manchester United has been hit with yet another setback as midfielder Scott McTominay faces a spell on the sidelines due to a knee injury sustained during their clash against Chelsea last week, according to Man Utd News.

The Scotland international, who came on as a substitute in the dramatic 4-3 defeat at Stamford Bridge, suffered a hyperextension of his knee in the closing stages of the game, leading to his absence in the subsequent match against Liverpool.

While initial concerns arose regarding the severity of McTominay's injury, sources within United have assured that it is not a serious one.

However, the midfielder is expected to undergo a two to three-week recovery period, contingent on his rehabilitation progress.

This injury compounds United's ongoing struggles with fitness, particularly in defense, where they are currently without the services of four senior center-backs: Lisandro Martinez, Raphael Varane, Victor Lindelof, and Jonny Evans.

Manager Erik ten Hag has indicated that Varane and Evans are unlikely to make imminent returns, while Martinez and Lindelof face at least another month on the sidelines.

In addition to their defensive woes, United also find themselves depleted in the left-back position, with Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia both nursing injuries.

Shaw, however, is expected to make a comeback before the conclusion of the campaign.

Despite the challenges, United have received a boost with the return of midfield stalwarts Casemiro and Mason Mount from their respective spells on the treatment table.

Nevertheless, McTominay's absence will be keenly felt, given his propensity for scoring crucial goals and his contribution to the team's Premier League points tally this season.

While United awaits further updates on McTominay's condition, attention also turns to Marcus Rashford, whose fitness status remains uncertain.

The club is expected to provide a comprehensive update on both players later this week, as they look to scale through a challenging period on the injury front.
