'Most Kidnappings in FCT Are Stage-Managed' - Wike

According to Nyesom Wike, the minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), most kidnapping incidents that occur in the nation's capital are prearranged by individuals.

Wike made this statement in an interview with the media following a closed-door meeting on insecurity in the nation's capital on Wednesday with the Senate and FCT Commissioner of Police, Benneth Igweh, according to Channels Television.

The FCT has seen a decrease in kidnapping, according to the Minister, since the two most wanted and well-known kidnappers were apprehended.

Nyesom Wike said, "The majority of kidnappings are occasionally stage-managed by individuals. Certain internal arrangements exist.

"Remember, we have apprehended the two most wanted and infamous kidnappers; thus, the number of kidnappings has decreased," stated Wike.

Wike was confirmed by the Commissioner of Police, who stated that since security personnel have taken over the forests, there hasn't been a kidnapping in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) in the past month.

"The FCT has experienced no kidnappings for a month. As a result of the FCT being surrounded by states with high rates of crime, we have utilized intelligence and made the decision to take control of the forest, according to CP Igwe.
