AS Roma is reportedly eager to sign Super Eagles goalkeeper, Maduka Okoye from fellow Italian Serie A club, Udinese when the summer transfer window opens for business.

Okoye joined Udinese on a permanent deal from Watford last summer and despite taking him some months to get playing time, the Nigerian is now a regular starter in Italy.

The 24-year-old has also done quite well in the colours of Udinese so far this season after keeping three cleansheets in eight matches across all competitions for the club.

His encouraging performances for the Little Zebras have now led to interest from Roma who wants him to replace the outgoing Rui Patricio, according to a report from romapress.net.

"AS Roma has added Udinese's Maduka Okoye to the list of potential replacements for Rui Patricio. Roma are set to part ways with Patricio at the end of the season," the report read.

"The Portuguese keeper's drop in form over the last year and a half has prompted the Giallorossi to eye a long-term replacement this coming summer with Lecce's Wladimiro Falcone still being the number one candidate for the job.

"However, Leggo reports that besides Falcone, Roma have also added Udinese shot-stopper, Okoye to their list of potential transfer targets ahead of next season."

Okoye, meanwhile, had another magnificent performance in goal for Udinese which traveled away to the Allianz Stadium and defeated Juventus 1-0 in a Serie A game on Monday.

The former number one goalkeeper for the Super Eagles was in an inspired form as he made six saves and had two other clearances to help Udinese beat Juve away for the first time since 2015.
