Gunmen kill traditional ruler in Rivers

Unknown gunmen have killed the paramount ruler of Anwunugbokor, a community in Ahaoda West Local Government Area of Rivers State.

Chief Innocent Ekwereogwu, who until his assassination was the chairman of the Ubie Council of Chiefs, was gunned down in his house in the early hours of Tuesday at Odiemerenyi, where he lived in Ahaoda East.

Torizone learnt the assassins invaded the place and shot him at 12:16 am.

In the meantime, his body has been deposited at the mortuary.

The Rivers State Police Command has yet to make an official statement regarding the incident.
