The English Premier League Matchday 17 came to an end yesterday after several entertaining matches were played across different centres in the competition last week. Top teams like Arsenal, Chelsea, Tottenham, and Aston Villa all came out with impressive performances in their respective matches as they did really well to secure all three important points. Unfortunately, it wasn't the same case for the likes of Manchester City, Liverpool, and Manchester United as they all dropped important points from their various games.
Well, in today's article, I will be sharing my Premier League team of the week consisting of the best players in matchday 17 of the competition. Let's take a look.
Goalkeeper: Andre Onana (Manchester United).
I can boldly say there wasn't a better goalkeeper than Andre Onana in the competition last week as he performed incredibly well for Manchester United against Liverpool. The Cameroonian International made eight solid saves in the encounter to make sure Liverpool didn't score a single goal against the Red Devils.
Centre-Backs: Michael Keane (Everton) and Raphael Varane (Manchester United).
Michael Keane was definitely one of Everton's best players in the competition last week as he performed brilliantly against Burnley. The English International scored a goal in the encounter and also did a brilliant job in defense for the Toffees. Raphael Varane on the other hand showed composure in defense for Man Utd as he made very important clearances, blocks, and tackles to stop several of Liverpool's attacks in their encounter.
Full-Backs: Dan Burn (Newcastle United) and Trent Alexander Arnold (Liverpool).
Trent Alexander-Arnold created several goalscoring opportunities for Liverpool against Manchester United but his great efforts were wasted due to the team's poor finishing. Dan Burn on the other hand scored a brilliant goal for Newcastle United as he contributed significantly to the team's win over Fulham.
Midfielders: Dejan Kulusevski (Tottenham), Rico Lewis (Manchester City), and Bruno Guimarāes (Newcastle United).
Dejan Kulusevski scored a goal and provided an assist to aid Tottenham's victory over Nottingham Forest. Rico Lewis scored a brilliant goal for Man City as he greatly influenced the team's performance from the middle of the park against Crystal Palace. Bruno Guimarāes on the other hand ran the midfield brilliantly for Newcastle United and also provided a lovely assist against Fulham.
Forwards: Lucas Paqueta, Mohammed Kudus (West Ham United) and Cole Palmer (Chelsea).
Cole Palmer scored a goal and provided an assist to orchestrate Chelsea's 2-0 win over Sheffield United. Lucas Paqueta provided three brilliant assists to aid West Ham United's emphatic 3-0 win over Wolves. His teammate Mohammed Kudus netted two brilliant goals in this encounter as he also contributed significantly to West Ham United's win.
