Israel vs Hamas War: Tears and laughter on Gaza beach as children get break from war

In a report from Newsmen, displaced families sought respite from their cramped shelters on a Gaza beach while children played in the shallow water during the truce between Israel and Hamas. However, parents could not help but recall the hardships of war and homelessness amidst the laughter.

As adults watched barefooted from the shore, Asmaa al-Sultan sat on the sand with her mother's arm around her. The elder woman shed quiet tears as more than 30 members of their family took refuge in a UN school alongside hundreds of other displaced individuals in Deir Al-Balah.

Asmaa explaied, "We came to take a breather, to escape from the crowded schools and depressing, polluted environment we are living in, People come to relax at beaches, swim, have fun with their children, bring food along. But we feel so depressed - even though we're at this beach now."

Northern Gaza has borne Israel's military assault brunt that has led hundreds of thousands of people leaving their homes for tents or seeking shelter with friends or relatives residing in southern parts of Gaza strip.
