Rivers police arrest fleeing landlord who allegedly attacked tenant and her husband with machete after she rejected his advances

Operatives Rivers State Police Command have arrested a landlord identified as Alabo, who allegedly macheted his female tenant and her husband at Ekwulobia Street in Mile 3, Diobu, in Port Harcourt.

Alabo was arrested on Sunday, November 12, 2023, by the police, who had been trailing him for months.

The suspect had been on the run since the incident which occurred on May 15, 2022.

According to Punch, the landlord went berserk after the woman, Comfort Nwagadi, turned down his love advances, inflicting several machete cuts on her.

The suspect also attacked and macheted Comfort's husband, who tried to rescue her.

Nwagadi confirmed the arrest of the suspect to the publication on Monday, November 13.

"That day, he also attacked my husband, who tried to intervene. Alabo cut him with the machete, too and ran away that night. Since then, he has not been seen," Nwagadi said.

"But yesterday, the Azikiwe Police Station called that they have arrested him. Now that he has been arrested, all I want is justice," she added.

The case file was transferred from the Azikiwe Police Division to the State Criminal Investigation And Intelligence Department Unit of the command on the directive of the then Commissioner of Police.
