After a heated incident at Stamford Bridge last week, Chelsea's boss, Mauricio Pochettino, expressed his frustrations with striker Cole Palmer. The young forward, who transitioned from Manchester City to Chelsea during the summer, managed to leave a mark on the match against Arsenal by scoring a goal and putting up an admirable performance.
However, the atmosphere turned tense when, following Arsenal's last-minute equalizer, Palmer's frustration got the better of him, resulting in him hurling a bottle in the direction of the dugout. The bottle unfortunately struck Pochettino.
In the lead-up to Chelsea's upcoming Premier League clash against Brentford, Pochettino addressed the incident during his Friday press conference. While the manager admitted to being "so angry" at the moment of impact, he chose to downplay the incident, laughing it off.
This gesture indicates that while such actions are not condoned, Pochettino is perhaps understanding of the heightened emotions that can flare up during intense matches.
The former Tottenham Hotspur coach said, "I was so angry (laughs) because I didn't expect or see when it came.
"When I turned and he was like, 'Sorry!' - it was a little unlucky. Good thing that it didn't damage me!"
Meanwhile, Palmer had since apologised for the incident, saying he said 'sorry' to Pochettino 'properly' after the game.
