Police arrest 3 for stealing truck loaded with 900 bags of cement in Niger

The Niger State Police Command has arrested three suspects for allegedly stealing a truckload of 900 bags of cement in Gwagwalada, Abuja.

Police Public Relations Officer, SP Wasiu Abiodun, stated that a report was received at Gawu-Babangida Division on 22nd June, 2025 that on 21st June, 2025 at about 8am, a Howo truck with Reg. No. HJA 995 XA loaded with about 900 bags of cement from Okpella to be delivered to a customer at Gwagwalada, Abuja, was diverted to an unknown location..

The PRO said upon arriving Gwagwalada at 6:00 pm, the driver parked the truck to eat at a restaurant while waiting for his customer and returned to find the vehicle missing.

"The driver quickly reported to his manager and the vehicle was tracked to a location in Lambata axis. Upon the receipt of this, DPO Gawu-Babangida Division mobilised his patrol team to the area.

"Fortunately, the vehicle was recovered along Lambata-Lapai road with the cement," he said.

The suspects include Bashir Isah, 22,, Ibrahim Yusuf, 21, and Halidu Mohammed 28, all of Gbamita area of Lambata.

Abiodun disclosed that during interrogation, the suspects confessed to the crime, saying they intended to sell the cement to another buyer.
