Kwara lawmaker's abducted wife and children regain freedom

The wife and two children of Mr Lawal Ayansola, a member of the Kwara State House of Assembly, who were abducted earlier this week, have regained their freedom.

They were released on Wednesday, Oct. 18, two days after they were kidnapped, according to sources close to the family of the lawmaker representing Malete/Ipaye/Olooru Constituency.

The spokesman of the Police command, SP Okasanmi Ajayi, confirmed that the victims have regained their freedom and reunited with their family.

The spokesman further disclosed that five suspects have been apprehended in connection with the abduction of the three victims.

He said the five people now in the police net are helping in the ongoing investigation.

Recall that gunmen, fully armed with AK-47 rifles, stormed the lawmaker's residence around 1 a.m. on Monday, October 16, 2023, and shot sporadically into the air to scare off neighbours before whisking the victims away.
