Okocha Insists Chukwueze Will Shine in Milan Despite Poor Start

Former Nigeria international, Austin Jay Jay Okocha believes his countryman, Samuel Chukwueze who just left Spanish side Villarreal for AC Milan, will do well in Italy.

AC Milan manager, Stefano Pioli decided to start Nigerian winger, Samuel Chukwueze against Newcastle United for the first time since the winger joined the club from Villarreal.

Samuel Chukwueze became a household name in Spanish La Liga side Villarreal where he spent his first five productive years. But his exit from the club to the Italian Serie A giants, AC Milan has not yielded much so far.

Even though Chukwueze was a starter at Villarreal in the last three seasons, he has not enjoyed such luxury at Milan where he has played a backup role under the leadership of coach Stefano Pioli.

The 24-year-old skillful winger has managed to play 6 of the seven Italian Serie A games this season all from the bench which goes to show his minimal level of relevance at the club.

Such a trend might continue in the UEFA Champions League group stage match against Borussia Dortmund at the Signal Idunna Park at 8 p.m. on Wednesday.

Despite Samuel Chukwueze's challenging start to life at the Rossoneri, Jay Jay Okocha believes the Italian giants made the right decision to bring the Nigeria international to the club.

The 1994 African Cup of Nations champion and Atlanta 1996 Olympic gold medallist believes Chukwueze has all it takes to succeed at the Milan-based club.

"He's been outstanding in the last few years now", Okocha told LiveScore

"He's been faced with a new challenge and it's all about how quickly he can adjust.

"Language is always important because it's always good to be able to communicate but his talent is never in doubt.

"I think he's a great addition to the Milan team and I do not doubt that he will do well."
