Manchester United supporters have been left concerned by Erik ten Hag's decision to start Jonny Evans against Burnley this evening.

The former Leicester City man returned to Old Trafford in the summer on a temporary basis to regain fitness and feature in the pre-season tour of the US. However, he then went on to sign a one-year deal at the club.

Evans has been named in the starting XI against the Clarets due to the unavailability of Lisandro Martinez and Harry Maguire. Raphael Varane is only fit enough for the bench.

Ahead of kick-off, United fans have been sharing their thoughts on the Reds starting with a centre-back partnership of Evans and Victor Lindelof this evening. Here is what supporters had to say on X.

Elsewhere, Hannibal Mejbri is named in the starting line-up after his goal in the defeat to Brighton and Hove Albion and Sofyan Amrabat has also travelled and is named on the bench. Meanwhile, Mason Mount did not travel with the squad.

Ten Hag's men go into the match following three defeats on the spin and are in desperate need of a result. Andre Onana remains trusted in goal despite his error in the defeat to Bayern Munich in midweek.

As for Vincent Kompany's side, they are looking to pick up their first three points of the campaign against United. After losing comfortably to Manchester City, Aston Villa and Tottenham Hotspur, the Clarets picked up their first point against Nottingham Forest on Monday night.
