The Gunners saw off PSV with a resounding 4-0 win, with Bukayo Saka, Leandro Trossard, Gabriel Jesus and Martin Odegaard all finding the net to put them top of Group B.

But despite not getting on the score sheet himself, £65m summer signing Havertz finally looked at home, putting in a strong midfield performance and playing a key role in the Gunners' fourth goal.

"Havertz was quality last night. Give him time..." one fan said replying to the clip of the Arsenal star on X, formerly known as Twitter.

Making a dig at Havertz's former club Chelsea, another supporter said: "He'll take some more time to wash the 'Chelsea' off him and then he'll come good I have no doubts."

"Kai Havertz had the best performance ever in Arsenal jersey," a third said. "It's just a matter of time before we get the goal or/and assist."

Havertz is yet to register a goal or assist in the seven appearances he's made for the Gunners, with his last goal contribution in a club game coming in March when he scored for Chelsea against Everton.

However, he did of course score the Champions League-winning goal for the Blues in 2021, and Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta made sure to point out Havertz's understated contribution in the Gunners' return to the competition.

"Yeah, he [Havertz] was really connected today in the game," he said after the game.

"It's true I asked him to play two different roles in regards to the behaviours of the opponents and he's so intelligent that he does it.

"It's just finishing one or two actions that we had but it's coming and he's so willing to do it."
