Champions League: Real Madrid, Barcelona spots under threat over Rubiales kiss scandal

Real Madrid and Barcelona's Champions League places are now at risk over the Luis Rubiales scandal, according to Mail Sport.

In the latest development, the Spanish FA have urged UEFA to consider expelling them due to the Spanish government's intervention over the ongoing 'kiss-gate' controversy.

If this request is granted, it would mean all Spanish clubs would be excluded from UEFA competitions like the Champions League, Europa League and the Europa Conference League.

This would affect Barcelona, Real Madrid, Atletico Madrid and Real Sociedad who play in the Champions League.

Villarreal CF and Real Betis are billed to be Spain's representatives in the Europa League.

Rubiales has refused to step down from his position despite being provisionally suspended by FIFA.

The FA chief has been widely condemned across the world for kissing Jenni Hermoso.
