Niger Coup: U.S. Deputy National Security Adviser Meets President Tinubu.

The United States Principal Deputy National Security Advisor, Jon Finer is set to meet with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu over the political development in Niger Republic.

In a statement released on Wednesday, the White House said Finer travelled to Gabon and Nigeria to strengthen bilateral relationships between the United States and African nations to solve global challenges and advance shared interests.

The statement disclosed that in Gabon, Finer met with President Ali Bongo Ondimba, Foreign Minister Hermann Immongault, and Minister of Environment Lee White.

It said Finer underscored the importance of Gabon as a partner to the United States, including our cooperation on security in the Gulf of Guinea and the Central Africa region.

The statement added that the U.S. Deputy NSA and the Gabonese President also discussed shared commitments, such as efforts to combat climate change.

According to the White House, while in Nigeria, Finer would meet with President Tinubu and other senior Nigerian officials to discuss regional security issues, including recent developments in Niger, and constructively engage on the next steps to preserve Niger's hard-earned democracy.
