Osinbajo Won't Attend APC Caucus Meeting With President Tinubu, Gives Reason

Former Vice President of Nigeria, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo has excused himself from the scheduled national caucus meeting of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) set to hold today.

This was made known in a statement on Wednesday by his media aide, Laolu Akande.

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu will host some APC stalwarts including former President Muhammadu Buhari, former Vice President Yemi Osinbajo,  Senate President Senator Godswill Akpabio; Speaker of the House of Representatives, Tajudeen Abbas, and other heavyweight members of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) at the party's National Caucus meeting.

It was gathered that the APC caucus meeting is scheduled to hold at the New Banquet Hall of the Presidential Villa at 6 pm.

Other APC bigwigs expected to attend are Vice President Kashim Shettima, APC governors, former Senate president Ahmad Lawan and ex-Speaker of House of Representatives Femi Gbajabiamila, and members of the National Working Committee.

However, Osinbajo in an apology letter addressed to the APC acting National Chairman said he was already abroad for another engagement, hence won't be available for the party's caucus meeting.

He added that he had canceled some previous appointments to accommodate the APC meetings which were later postponed unfortunately.

The former Vice President however reiterated his loyalty and commitment to the party and wished the members fruitful delibrations.

The statement reads: "The immediate past Vice President of Nigeria, Prof Yemi Osinbajo, SAN has expressed his regrets for his inability to attend the caucus meeting of the APC scheduled for Wednesday 2nd August 2023 .

"In a letter of apology for his absence addressed to the Ag. Chairman of the party the former VP explained that he was already abroad for engagements to which he had long been committed, when he received the invitation to the meeting.

"He had in fact cancelled some of his engagements abroad to be available for the two previously scheduled caucus meetings of the party which had to be postponed due to exigencies.

"While wishing the party fruitful deliberations, he expressed his commitment to the Party and his availability for future meetings and activities of the party."
