Manchester United's recent acquisition on loan Wout Weghorst had a poor performance in the 3-2 defeat to Arsenal in North London yesterday. Meanwhile, his awful display has explained why a player should not be signed based on World Cup performance.
The FIFA World Cup is a tournament of fewer games. So it's not ideal to judge the quality of a player based on his performance in the tournament.
Wout Weghorst went viral when he scored two decisive goals in the quarter-final of the world cup against Argentina to send the game to a penalty shootout where Argentina eventually won.
As a result, his performance stimulated the Interest of Ten Hag and Manchester United which was why the EPL club signed him on loan from Burnley.
However, the Deutsch striker didn't make any tangible difference to Manchester United's game against Arsenal yesterday which explained why a player should not be signed based on World Cup performance.
Careful observation should have been made of his performance at the club level in the long run.
