Ronaldo believes Jose Mourinho should be among the candidates to become Brazil's new head coach.

Brazil are searching for a new manager following Tite's decision to step down after the World Cup in Qatar.

Tite was unable to guide Brazil to their first World Cup trophy since 2002 as his side were beaten by Portugal on penalties in the quarter final last week.

And Ronaldo, who was Brazil's key man during their World Cup success 20 years ago, believes the national team should be considering a non-Brazilian appointment.

'There are a lot of amazing names that would do a lot of good. [Carlo] Ancelotti, Abel [Ferreira], from Palmeiras, [Jose] Mourinho, from Roma,' Ronaldo said.

'They are incredible names. All of them with contracts.

'I don't know what the CBF will do, but my opinion is that it would support a foreign name.

'I don't see many Brazilian options. What I wanted to say is that Fernando Diniz [Fluminense's head coach] is one of the Brazilian names that I like the most.

'Anyway, before the coach's announcement, the CBF will still have other announcements to make.

'The coach's choice comes from a concept of how the CBF board or the president wants the team to play. Based on this game concept that the Selection chooses, it is possible to look for the most suitable profiles for this game.

'Since 2002 the national team has not won anything, it is the right time to take risks, innovate, bring something new to the national scene.

'I see no problem in that regard [picking a non-Brazilian head coach]. Logically we have big names in Brazil. But it is a decision that the CBF will have to make. I'm looking forward to that name.'
