EPL: Thomas Tuchel reveals top star won't play for Chelsea again

The German tactician admitted that the Dane left Chelsea in a far from the ideal situation after his decision not to play last Saturday's FA Cup final against Liverpool.

The Denmark international, who has already agreed on a deal with Barcelona, appeared set to play the game on Saturday but suddenly informed Tuchel on the morning of the game that he felt unable to play.

Chelsea went ahead to lose the match in a penalty shootout after putting in a highly creditable performance for 120 minutes.

Christensen's decision was said to have shocked his teammates, and it could mean he has played his final game for the club

His contract expires next month and the Blues play their last game of the season on Sunday after their Thursday clash against Leicester City.

"Andreas came on the morning of the match to inform me that he's not ready to play the match and not on the bench," Tuchel told the press on Wednesday ahead of the Leicester game.

"He had his reasons and they stay private and confidential but it was not the first time over the last weeks that we had some of these situations.

"That's why he didn't play so regularly in the last weeks, we thought we were in a good progression and in good development and he played very, very strong in the match before the final in the game against Leeds.

"The conversation took place we had to respect it and we of course respected it. He has our support but for tomorrow I'm not sure."
