Arsenal launch bid for Real Madrid sensation as Gunners prepare to revamp squad

The Gunners have reportedly made a contact with La Liga giants Real Madrid over a possible move of their centre-back Eder Militao to the Premier League side, SunSport reports.

Militao only recently moved to the Spanish club in July 2019, but has had a difficult time settling with Los Blancos and now Arsenal are looking to having the player.

The 22-year-old defender arrived the Spanish capital for £44million from Portuguese side FC Porto last summer.

However, the presence of Sergio Ramos and Raphael Varane has made it difficult for the player to break into Zinedine Zidane's first team.

As Mikel Arteta makes effort to improve the Arsenal defence, Militao is now one of his transfer targets in a bid to have a new look squad.

The Arsenal boss is keen on revamping his back-line with replacements for Shkodran Mustafi and Sokratis said to be high on his list.

Arteta will however need to battle Manchester City for the youngster as reports say the Citizens have also made a contact with Real Madrid over the same player.

It was also gathered that Jose Mourinho's Tottenham also tried to sign the player during the January transfer window.

Real Madrid's Sergio Ramos is reportedly not impressed with Militao's contribution since he joined Los Blancos and feels it is time for the player to leave.

However, talented centre-half Militao has often been forced to play out of position at right-back on the rare occasion Dani Carvajal is injured.

In total, he has made just 13 appearances for Los Blancos all season, with a mere seven starts in LaLiga.
