Ruben Amorim, during his long tenure as Sporting CP manager, made a name for himself for developing some of the young talent across the world into useful players, mostly moved on for a profit by the Portuguese club. However, he has had the chance to do this at Man Utd yet.
Amorim is hoping to build a project at Man Utd that brings the club back to its glory days and it would be refreshing to see him have faith in youngsters to help him do this at Old Trafford.
He has already shown signs of the same, giving players like Ayden Heaven, Leny Yoro, Obi Martin and Patrick Dorgu an extended run.
The transfer targets seem to reflect this ideology too. As per Calciomercato journalist Daniele Longo, Man Utd are nearing the signing of talented Spanish midfielder Javi Guerra from Valencia to reinforce the options that Amorim has in midfield.
The same journalist had previously mentioned that Guerra could be available for a fee of around £21.5million this summer and that AC Milan, Aston Villa and Atletico Madrid were interested in the player.
One of the most talented young Spanish midfielders coming through in La Liga, it is clear that Guerra is available for a bargain this summer.
Valencia are going through a very troubled time and their performances in recent seasons have been abysmal. Thus, it comes as no surprise that they are willing to make this sale.
Guerra, stylistically, has exactly what one would expect from a Spanish midfielder. Technically, he is very proficient and has the quality to play for a side like Man Utd. He has the ability to find passes in tight spaces, can retain the ball and can also help win it back.
Amorim, during his time in England, has used a 3-4-2-1 system that includes two midfield spots. Guerra is an all engine midfielder who can perfectly fit into one of them, especially if he is paired with a more defensively minded option like Casemiro or Manuel Ugate.
Ultimately, it does look like Man Utd are interested in Guerra and that the player is willing to come here. If the Red Devils are able to get this deal over the line, it would represent a very strong coup and it remains to be seen how this transfer saga plays out.
