Sporting CP striker Viktor Gyokeres has shared news of yet more success amid links to Manchester United.

Gyokeres has become one of the most in-demand players in European football in this transfer window after another sensational season in Lisbon. The Swede bagged a whopping 54 goals this campaign and it has been widely reported that he's open to leaving Portugal this summer for a new challenge.

United and Arsenal are claimed to be the leading teams from the Premier League to be interested in the 27-year-old. United links surfaced after they poached Ruben Amorim from Sporting last November.

Amorim and Gyokeres grew a close relationship in Portugal - after United's current head coach opted to purchase him from Coventry City. Arsenal's interest dates back even further, though, and both sides are believed to be keen on getting a deal done this summer.

On Saturday afternoon, Gyokeres hinted why both United and Arsenal are vying for his signature when he posted Sporting's announcement that he had made Liga Portugal's team of the season for 2024/2025. The Swede joins his teammate Francisco Trincao in the side.

Gyokeres' inclusion in the team was expected after such a terrific campaign. In the league alone he scored 39 goals in 32 appearances.

Exactly where Gyokeres will be plying his trade next season is unclear. Arsenal's current negotiations for RB Leipzig striker Benjamin Sesko have pushed their chase for the Sporting man to the backburner which could open the door for United to swoop in.

However, United have their own priorities, at present, as they attempt to bring Brentford's Bryan Mbeumo to Old Trafford. United have already made an initial bid of £55million for the right-sided forward.
