Clinic allegedly vows to jail lady for speaking out after acne treatment results in permanent scar

A Nigerian lady has taken to social media to cry out after allegedly suffering permanent facial scarring from a procedure carried out by Hello Perfect Aesthetic & Laser Clinic.

She claims the clinic, rather than offering support, is now threatening her with a lawsuit and possible imprisonment.

The ordeal was shared on X (formerly Twitter) by user @iamthelma_, who recounted how she contacted the clinic in 2023 in search of a permanent solution to her acne-prone skin.

However, her experience reportedly left her emotionally distressed, physically scarred, and entangled in legal threats.

In her detailed thread, she revealed that she initially discovered the clinic on Instagram, where she was drawn in by their polished before-and-after photos and glowing reviews.

After paying ₦30,000 for a virtual consultation, she was sent a treatment plan that bundled both facial acne and underarm treatments - a move she now considers the first red flag.

Despite her doubts, she proceeded with the plan, visiting their Abuja and Lagos clinics between September and November 2023.

During her second session in Lagos, she was introduced to a laser resurfacing treatment, which she says came with glowing assurances but no mention of a required depigmentation procedure afterward.

Thelady recalled experiencing a burning sensation during the procedure, which staff dismissed as normal.

More alarmingly, she said the team substituted a 10% hydroquinone cream for the unavailable 4% formula - a much stronger concentration.

She noted that no one from the clinic followed up after her sessions. When she sent in progress photos in December, she was instructed to continue with the cream and was later told, rather casually, that she'd need a depigmentation treatment in January.

Things worsened when she discovered the clinic had posted her laser treatment on Instagram stories without her consent or checking the results.

A friend intervened to have it taken down, but she received no apology or further communication from the clinic.

By January, she lost trust in the clinic and canceled her sessions, receiving no inquiries or concern in return.

She claims that after enduring the trauma for over two years, she quietly shared a video on TikTok in April 2025. That post prompted the clinic to reach out.

She alleged that what was pitched as a "virtual review" turned out to be an interrogation. According to her, the clinic's CEO joined the call and explained the cost of their equipment, suggesting that laser treatments are intentionally made to sound intense to "scare people off" - something she claims never happened in her case.

After the call, she involved her lawyer. The firm ignored the first legal letter but later responded with a denial of her claims and threatened legal action - including a possible two-year jail term - if she spoke out publicly.

Defiantly, she wrote:

"I've stayed silent for too long. Because this scar is not just physical, it's emotional, and it's public. Hello Perfect failed me. They hurt me. And they tried to silence me."

She concluded by encouraging others with similar experiences to speak up, saying:

"To every Nigerian who has suffered from any aesthetic clinic or medical negligence, you are not alone. Speak up. Demand better. Let's protect each other from silence."
