Ighalo fails to score as Al Wehda suffers relegation from Saudi Pro League

Odion Ighalo has suffered relegation from the Saudi Pro League with his club, Al Wehda.

This follows a 2-1 defeat to Al Ettifaq in their last fixture of the season.

Al Wehda, who have struggled this season, came into the match needing a win against AL Ettifaq to preserve their status in the top-flight.

Ighalo, who already had six goals and two assists for the team, however failed to find the back of the net.

Abdullah Radif opened the scoring for Al Ettifaq in the 45th minute, before Al Wehda equalized through Jawad El Yamiq in the 70th minute.

However, they failed to build on the momentum and went on to concede in stoppage time.

This result means Al Wehda finish the season in 16th with 33 points.

If they had won, they would have leap-frogged Al Okhdood who finished the season in 15th.

Ighalo and his Al Wehda side will now spend next season in the Saudi Arabian Division 1.
