A Nigerian bride has narrated how her fiancé paid a ₦10 million bride price in less than two seconds after her father made the demand.
She shared the story in a video posted on her TikTok page, describing the events that unfolded during her traditional marriage ceremony.
According to her, the event featured a gathering of elders separated into male and female groups.
Her fiancé was presented with a list of items to bring to the family house, but he opted to pay the monetary equivalent instead.
After settling the women, the man was invited by the family elders, where her father requested a bride price of ₦10 million.
To everyone's surprise, the groom immediately paid the full amount without hesitation.
The video captured the moment he handed the money to her father. In a symbolic gesture, the father inspected the bundle, removed ₦200, and returned the rest to the groom, instructing him to use it to take care of his daughter.
Narrating the experience, the bride-to-be said:
"He was quoted 10 million naira. It's common for them to call an outrageous amount for the bride price. My man handed over the cash to my father. He pulled out ₦200 and then returned the rest to take care of his daughter."
