Kratos has an epic history on PlayStation but some of the older entries in the series could benefit from a refresh.
Fans were hoping to hear something during the God of War 20th anniversary celebrations earlier this year following some juicy rumours, but Sony poured cold water on their excitement - confirming ahead of schedule how there were "no planned announcements" for this specific event.
We're now in May and recordings of these panels have been officially uploaded this week, but the rumoured remasters aren't looking quite as likely - with more recent claims suggesting there'll be a "new side-story project" arriving this year instead.
Still, this hasn't stopped fans from calling for a return to Krato's earlier era of gaming - with many diehards taking to social media once again to highlight the lack of major announcements for the anniversary while also noting how this occasion (reuniting the cast and developers) would have been the "perfect" opportunity for a reveal.
"A God of War original saga remaster would've been nice," said one response, with many others simply hoping something like this will still happen "one day". A comment on ResetEra also acknowledged the fact there was still currently no way to experience the "full series" on PS5 before the third entry.
Similar comments have also flooded PlayStation's latest YouTube uploads. "They are literally celebrating 20 years without even having the original games be natively playable on modern systems...we need the remasters," said another fan.
Based on the most recent update, it looks like we could still see a "Greek God of War thing" this year, but it's again believed to be this "new side-story" possibly focused on a younger version of Kratos. So, until the next development, it seems God of War fans will just have to make do with what's currently available on the PS5 and PlayStation Plus.
