The General Manager, Oyo State Fire Service, Mr Yemi Akinyinka, confirmed the incident.
A fire outbreak at The Polytechnic Ibadan in Oyo State has destroyed properties valued at millions of naira, affecting several rooms within the institution.
According to Report, it was gathered that the incident occurred in the early hours of Wednesday.
It was learnt that the fire affected three rooms out of the four rooms in the staff quarters.
The General Manager, Oyo State Fire Service, Mr Yemi Akinyinka, confirmed the incident.
Akinyinka noted that the fire occurred as a result of electricity spark when the Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company (IBEDC) restored electricity in the institution.
No casualty was recorded in the furr incident.
He said, "The distressed call was received at exactly 02: 26hrs on Wednesday 7th May, 2025. Fire fighters led by ACFS Adesina Olusoji promptly turned out to the scene of fire incident. On getting there,it was a Staff Quarters of the institution that engulfed by fire.
"The firemen swiftly swung into action and restricted the fire from spreading to all nearby buildings and properties within the vicinity. The was completely extinguished in conjunction with the University of Ibadan Fire Department.
"The fire severely affected three (3) rooms out of four(4) rooms in the Quarters.
"No casualty was recorded and properties worth millions of naira destroyed by fire. The firemen were able to curtailed the fire from affecting nearby other properties.
"The fire incident was as a result of electric sparks when IBEDC restored power supply."
