Military commander of an army camp located at Sabon Garin Dan'Ali, in Danmusa local government area of Katsina state has reportedly been killed in an ambush.

Sources said the incident happened Thursday evening and the corpse of the deceased, a major in the army, was deposited at a hospital in Katsina.

Daily Trust gathered from reliable sources that the commander, (name withheld), was ambushed at Malali village in Kankara local government area, where he was called to provide reinforcement to repel an attack on the village.

The Anambra State Commandant of Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps has arrested eight persons for operating as private guards illegally and also recovered four pump action guns with 16 live cartridges from them.

The Anambra State commandant, Olatunde Maku, said the suspects were arrested in a recent crackdown on unlicensed private security guards in Awka.

Maku, while parading the suspects at the headquarters in Awka, on Friday, issued a stern warning to operators of illegal private security outfits in the state.

Governor Peter Mbah, on Friday, inaugurated the newly constituted Enugu State Independent Electoral Commission, ENSIEC.

While performing the ceremony at the Government House Enugu, Mbah said the electoral body's new board was highly qualified in capacity and character following their expedient confirmation by the Enugu State House of Assembly.

He further stated that their inauguration was a sequel to the provisions of Section 4(1) of the ENSIEC Law, charging them on free, fair, and credible polls.

The Lagos State Police Command's Public Relations Officer, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, has expressed dismay at estate security personnel who insist on carrying out routine checks before giving police operatives access to their premises.

He made this known in a recent post on his X handle on Friday.

This was in response to an X user @AyBenson who accused police operatives from the Ogombo Division of brutally beating up his estate security man on Wednesday.
