UCL: 'God is in control' - Barcelona's Ronald Araujo apologises to fans

Barcelona defender Ronald Araujo has apologised to fans after his red card during his side's UEFA Champions League quarter-final second leg 4-1 defeat against Paris Saint-Germain on Tuesday.

Barcelona won the first leg 3-2 in Paris and took an early lead in the second leg through Raphinha.

But Araujo was shown a red card in the 29th minute after he brought down Bradley Barcola just outside the box as the last defender.

Araujo's dismissal turned the match on its head as PSG used the one-man advantage to full effect with the likes of Ousmane Dembele, Vitinha and Kylian Mbappe all registering their names on the score sheet.

PSG advanced to the semi-final on a 6-4 aggregate win.

In a post via his Instagram account on Wednesday, Araujo said:

"Football that gave me so much joy, is now hitting me hard. I thank all those who're unconditionally by my side, my teammates who left everything on the field, and the fans who believed in this team until the end. We'll try this again. Go Barca, now and forever. God is in control."
