Have you ever wondered which bridge is the longest in the world? If not, the answer to this question may surprise you.

The Danyang-Kunshan Grand Bridge in China, with a length of 164.8 km, not only breaks records, but also deserves to be called a true engineering miracle.

Built in just four years, between 2006 and 2010, the Danyang-Kunshan Bridge is a remarkable example of China's pace and scale of construction. Put into use in 2011, shortly after completion it was considered the longest structure of this type in the world.

The Danyang-Kunshan Bridge is located on the Beijing-Shanghai High-Speed Railway, in Jiangsu Province. It runs through the Yangtze River Delta, an area known as China's Golden Triangle, a region defined by Shanghai, Hangzhou and Ningbo. The bridge runs almost parallel to the Yangtze River, and one of its 9 km long sections stretches over Yangcheng Lake in Suzhou.

The construction of this giant required hundreds of thousands of tons of steel. The entire Danyang-Kunshan line is based on two sections: Danyang, measuring 52.4 km, and Kunshan, which is more than twice as long at 112.4 km.
