EPL: They're top scorers - Ferdinand questions Ten Hag's decision on two Man Utd players

Manchester United legend, Rio Ferdinand has questioned manager, Erik ten Hag's decision to drop Marcus Rashford and Scott McTominay for the Red Devils' Premier League game against Chelsea on Thursday.

Ten Hag made three changes to the side that drew 1-1 with Brentford, with Rashford being benched and Antony coming in.

The Dutch coach explained that the changes were due to rotation and keeping the players fresh for the Liverpool fixture on Sunday.

However, Ferdinand wasn't pleased with Ten Hag's decision, insisting that the duo are top scorers against 'six big teams.'

"Marcus Rashford has been a talisman at this football club for a number of years now. I'm hearing behind the scenes that it might be a bit of a knock [for Rashford]," Ferdinand told TNT Sports.

"Marcus Rashford has been a talisman at this football club for a number of years now. I'm hearing behind the scenes that it might be a bit of a knock [for Rashford].

"We have injuries, but at the same time, when I look at it, we've got two players who have done well against the big teams, the big six this year.

"The top goal scorers against the big six are both on the bench today. McTominay and Marcus Rashford. Rashford has three, McTominay two," he added.

The match ended 4-3 in favour of Chelsea at Stamford Bridge.
