The Uche twins can confidently claim to be the most gifted brothers to ever play for the Super Eagles. They were especially impressive in 2009, when the Eagles battled their way through qualifications for the 2010 World Cup in South Africa and the AFCON in Angola that same year.
Despite the fact that Kalu missed out on winning the AFCON title in 2013, Ikechukwu was a member of the winning Eagles squad.
2. KANU BROTHERS (NWANKWO & OGBONNAYA)
The Kanu brothers' contributions to the Eagles' early 2000s success were out of the ordinary. Nwankwo (nicknamed Papilo) has become more of a household name in Nigerian football than his brother Ogbonnaya.
Papilo is the most decorated footballer in Nigeria's history. He was awarded 86 caps for Nigeria and was named African Player of the Year, amongst other honors. Ogbonna, his younger brother, has three caps for the Super Eagles and was a member of the senior national team that competed in the 2002 FIFA World Cup in Korea and Japan.
3. OKOCHA BROTHERS (AUSTIN, JAMES & EMMA)
The Okocha brothers have become household names in Nigerian football as a result of their extraordinary contributions to the Super Eagles' success. Austin Okocha's older brother, James, who began playing football as a toddler, earned the moniker Jay-Jay. When his older brother (Emma) joined the Eagles in the late 1990s, he was given the nickname Jay-Jay, but the term persisted with Austin Okocha, who is widely regarded as the best footballer.
4. UTAKA BROTHERS (JOHN & PETER)
John Utaka, a former Portsmouth striker, and his younger brother, Peter Utaka, are two Nigerian brothers who played for the Super Eagles. John Utaka was a member of the Golden Eagles squad that competed in the 2006 African Cup of Nations. He was also a member of the Nigerian teams that competed in the World Cups in 2002 and 2010.
John made 43 appearances for Nigeria, scoring six goals. Peter, his younger brother, has only been capped seven times, scoring three goals in that time.
5. BABYARO BROTHERS (EMMANUEL & CELESTINE)
The Babayaro brothers are just one of several Nigerian brothers who have played for the Eagles. Celestine and Emmanuel Babayaro were part of Nigeria's Dream team that won Olympic gold in Atlanta. Being a part of the team that brought joy and dignity to Nigerians won them the hearts of tens of millions of Nigerian soccer fans around the world.
