Europa League: Liverpool shouldn't be in this competition - Sparta Prague coach, Priske after heavy defeat

Brian Priske, the head coach of Sparta Prague, has expressed his admiration for Liverpool following their 6-1 victory over his team at Anfield in the Europa League round of 16 second leg tie on Thursday.

Priske believes that Liverpool should not be competing in the Europa League, but instead should be playing in the Champions League.

In his post-match comments, Priske described Liverpool as a world-class team and praised their quality in both legs of the tie against Sparta.

He went on to say that Liverpool belongs in the Champions League and that they could even make it to the semi-finals of that competition, or even win the Premier League this year.

Despite the defeat, Priske was gracious in defeat and acknowledged the gulf in class between the two teams.

"We faced a world-class team," Priske said.

"Big respect to Liverpool, how they played these two legs, how they approached the games, put in the pure quality they have.

"But Liverpool are a Champions League team and they should be in the Champions League, they will maybe be in the semi-finals, they will maybe be Premier League winners in two months."

Liverpool advanced to the quarter final on 11-2 aggregate win having won 5-1 in the first leg.
