The Commissioner of Police in the FCT, Ben Igweh has alleged that the FCT police command has successfully apprehended a total of 8 individuals involved in robbery and 12 kidnappers, which included women collaborating with them. He stated that there is a belief among these criminals that after kidnappings in the FCT and subsequently escaping to areas like Tafa, Lapa, and Garam, it would allow them to evade arrest from the security agencies. He noted that the police is now focused on addressing this issue by extending their operations to clear the surrounding towns of the FCT, such as Mararaba, Masaka, and Gora.
He said in an interview with Channels TV, ''We arrested 8 robbers and 12 Kidnappers including women that are working with them. Some people think they will come to FCT and do kidnapping and run to areas like Tafa, Lapa, and Garam.
They come here to kidnap and then run to that side. And they think when they run to those areas, we will not fish them out. Now we are moving now. We have to clear the towns surrounding the FCT because that is our problem. We are policing here up to Mararaba, Masaka, and Gora. These are towns in Nasarawa but they share borders with FCT.''
