Samuel Eto'o: FIFA receives scalding report accusing FECAFOOT president of threats and match-fixing

Samuel Eto'o, the current president of the Cameroonian Football Federation, finds himself embroiled in a scandalous file sent to FIFA's Ethics Committee.

According to reports from The Athletic, Eto'o is accused of a range of misconduct, including match-fixing, spreading false information, making threats, inciting violence, and abusing power.

Allegations Against Eto'o

The accusations against Eto'o are grave, with former Fecafoot vice-president Henry Njalla Quan Junior sending a comprehensive file to FIFA detailing the alleged transgressions.

Among the accusations is the involvement of Eto'o in match-fixing, with Njalla Quan Junior describing a match between his academy and Kumba City FC as "the most scandalous... in the history of mankind." Additionally, Eto'o is accused of orchestrating the promotion of a team owned by a "close associate," Valentine Nkwain.

The deteriorating relationship between Njalla Quan Junior and Eto'o further exacerbated tensions, with allegations of threats made by the former striker. A threatening message, reportedly paid for by Eto'o, warned Njalla Quan Junior of dire consequences should he oppose Eto'o's interests.

Eto'o's Controversial Past

This is not the first time Eto'o has found himself in the midst of controversy. In a shocking incident captured on video, Eto'o was seen brutally kneeing a man in the face after Brazil's clash with South Korea at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.

Moreover, the football icon has faced legal troubles, including a fine and a 22-month suspended jail sentence for tax fraud in 2022.

Furthermore, Eto'o's association with a sports betting company despite his role with Cameroon raises concerns about a potential violation of FIFA's ethics code. As investigations unfold, it remains to be seen how FIFA will respond to these alarming allegations against one of football's former stars.
