According to the scripture, the count specifically mentioned men, prompting the pastor to question why women and children were not included.
According to him, "The Bible says Jesus had five thousand men. But when I was meditating on the scripture I asked myself why would they count men and leave the women and children? Thus, I concluded that since the church started, women have been relegated to the background religiously. Even in the time of Jesus, women were pushed by religion to the background. And that is why it is affecting the church till today."
The pastor highlighted the biblical narrative as an early example of women being pushed to the periphery within religious structures. His contemplation suggests that the effects of this historical pattern continue to influence the dynamics of the church today. His reflections call for a reevaluation of the role of women within religious institutions, challenging the traditional norms that have, according to his perspective, perpetuated their marginalization.
