Cultists kill 5 In Rivers State Gives Conditions Before Cease-fire

Gunmen loyal to wanted David Gift (aka 2Baba), suspected of killing Superintendent of Police Bako Angbashim, the late Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Ahoada Police Division, attacked and killed five natives of the Odiemerenyi community in Rivers State's Ahoada East Local Government Area yesterday morning.

A resident of the hamlet, who requested anonymity, told the Daily Sun, that the suspected cultists stormed the neighborhood at 1 a.m. on Sunday, killing two of his brothers and another person on his property.

According to the deceased's brother, the suspects killed five people in the village. The source gave names of people killed by the suspected cultists as Charles Osu, Ogbobula Ejee, Eeje Idaowukwo and two others.

He claimed that following the deaths, the suspected cultists told the community that the only way for them (cultists) to stop killing was for the Nigeria Police to free their sponsors and sympathizers, as well as some chiefs in their (police) custody, before they (cultists) would cease fire.

The native urged the Rivers State Government and security agencies to do more to apprehend the sought-after cultists, saying that residents in the town and neighboring areas are now fearful.
