Meanwhile, the 2023 presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP), Peter Obi has mourned the death of some secondary school students who were killed by a thunderstorm over the weekend.

Obi in a personally signed statement on Sunday described the death of the students as unfortunate and a great loss.

It would be recalled that 9 students of the Tansi International College, Awka were struck by thunder on Saturday while playing football in the rain. Of the 9, 3 have lost their lives while others are hospitalized.

The former Anambra State Governor in his reaction, commiserated with all those affected by the tragedy and prayed for the quick recovery of those in the hospital.

He wrote via his account on the X platform: "I am greatly saddened by the unfortunate natural disaster that happened at Tansi International College, Awka this weekend. It was reported that 9 students of the College were struck by thunder, on Saturday, November 4, during a rainstorm.

"Sadly, 3 of the students lost their lives, while the rest are responding to treatment at the hospital. I commiserate with the bereaved families, students, and management of the College. May God give all the strength to bear this great loss, and grant eternal rest to the dead, and quick recovery to the injured."
