Rivers Crisis: Tinubu Intervenes In Fubara-Wike Feud

Tinubu

President Bola Tinubu has stepped into the ongoing political and security turmoil in Rivers State.

The involvement of President Tinubu was revealed by Bauchi State governor, Bala Mohammed, during a press briefing after the Police Council meeting held at the Presidential Villa, Abuja, on Tuesday.

The strained relationship between Rivers State governor, Siminalayi Fubara, and his predecessor, Nyesom Wike, who currently serves as the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), deteriorated due to recent attempts by a faction of the State House of Assembly to impeach Governor Fubara.

Governor Mohammed, who also chairs the Peoples Democratic Party Governors Forum (PDP-GF), additionally disclosed that opposition governors have made a collective decision to cooperate with the President on the matter.

According to him, their decision was prompted by the President's demonstrated good faith in not interfering with gubernatorial cases brought before the courts by PDP members.
