'Somebody In CBN From The South East Had Ph.D. In Economics But He Was Subtracted' -Nwekeaku

The National Secretary of the Igbo Elders Forum, Professor Charles Nwekeaku has alleged that an individual from the Southeast who's qualified and surpassing the qualifications of others at the CBN was excluded from being assigned as the CBN governor. He expressed his dissatisfaction with the current political situation, noting various shifts and changes that have favored other regions. He called for a more balanced and performance-based approach to appointments in government.

He said in an interview with Arise TV, "Somebody in the CBN from South East had a Ph.D. in economics, more qualified than any other person there but he was subtracted. Let us not talk of capacity. The capacity that we are talking about, what is the exchange of naira today? How much do you buy a liter of petroleum? What is the inflation rate?

We can see political somersault here and there. I don't even see the capacity in the appointment because the people are not performing. Because the people who are there to do the thing, they are being subtracted maybe because of where they come from. We can't continue to add the issue of capacity.''
