Why I dropped Musa, Troost-Ekong for Super Eagles' friendlies - Peseiro

Super Eagles head coach, Jose Peseiro has explained the reason behind Ahmed Musa and William Troost-Ekong's omission from the squad for the side's upcoming friendlies against Saudi Arabia and Mozambique.

Musa, who is the captain of the team, and vice-captain, Troost-EKong were omitted from the 25-man squad for the friendlies released by head coach, Jose Peseiro last week.

Peseiro hinted that the duo are still part of the team.

The Portuguese revealed that Musa was left out because of visa issues, while he dropped Troost-Ekong to check on another defender.

"Ahmed Musa did not come because of the problem with visa, didn't get a visa. Ekong is an option, he belongs to the group but for this camping I decided I need to check Torunarigha," he told a press conference ahead of today's friendly against Saudi Arabia.

"I could have called Ekong but Chidozie came because he only came last year, he deserves also (to be here).

"We know the quality of Ekong, for that he can wait for the next camp. I could have called many other players but I could only call not more than 25."
