'The most complete player' - Zlatan gives shocking answer to GOAT question

Zlatan Ibrahimovic tells Piers Morgan who the greatest player of all time is.

Football legend Zlatan Ibrahimovic has given a controversial response to a question about who the greatest player of all time is.

The 42-year-old former Sweden international recently called time on an illustrious football career, where he won 34 titles spanning nine clubs. He is enjoying retirement away from the demands of playing the sport, and in a recent interview, he weighed in on the ever-contentious GOAT debate.

What Zlatan said

The former Barcelona striker had a sit down with Pier Morgan, where they discussed a myriad of topics, including family, his career, and life after football, among others.

As has become the norm in such long-form interviews with footballers and ex-professionals, Ibrahimovic was unavoidably asked to weigh in on the GOAT debate.

The ex-Malmo man has previously raved about Lionel Messi, with whom he shared a dressing room during his time at Barcelona; he also has great respect for Cristiano Ronaldo's achievements, but he named neither as the best player of all time.

His answer was neither of the other common names in the conversation, like the late Pele or Diego Maradona. Instead, the Swede named himself.

Ibrahimovic believes that if the conversation is limited to skillset alone and variables like individual awards (FIFA The Best and Ballon d'Or) or the biggest titles, i.e., the Champions League and World Cup, are not factored in, he is the best of the lot.

Zlatan on Piers Uncensored: "I have to speak as a fan. What do we judge it by-what we win collective, or what we win individual?"

"Just the skill without winning anything? I think I'm the best, without joking. I'm the most complete player that ever exist, skills and all this. If we talk about I didnt win the golden ball, no I didn't win the Champions League. If those things matter, no I'm probably not on that list.

"I had the honour and luck to win trophies, 34 trophies, some collective, some individual.

"When we talk pure, only the player's abilities, I think [I'm the best] 100 per cent, no joking."
