Two suspects arrested as police avert cultists induced blood bathe in Ogun community

The prompt response of the Agbodo Division of the Nigeria Police Force in Ogun State has averted a blood bath in an orchestrated chaotic and life-threatening war of supremacy between cult groups at the Fadunsin area of Ijoko.

The operatives, led by the Divisional Police Officer (DPO), CSP Adekunle Awoniyi, following a tip-off, on September 4, stormed the area in a bid to quell the disturbances caused by the cultists.

A statement released by the state police command's spokesperson, SP Omolola Odutola, says two male suspects were arrested in the process, 27-year-old Sodiq Idowu, and Yusuf Wahab, 25. She said both suspects confessed to being members of the 'EIYE' Confraternity, and have given valuable information to the detectives on how to track other fleeing suspects involved in cultist activities

"They have also provided information about the syndicate, the location of their armourer, and the whereabouts of weapons that may have been used in their criminal activities"

The PPRO further stated that preliminary investigations were underway at the Agbado Police Station, adding that the suspects would soon be transferred to the state Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department (SCIID) for a more discreet and thorough investigation of their involvement in the EIYE Confraternity and other related crimes.

"The Nigeria Police Force, Ogun State Police Command Headquarters, Eleweran, under the Commissioner of Police CP Alamutu Abiodun Mustapha psc, remains vibrant, and is committed to curbing the menace of cultism and other cult related activities, assuring further that both material equipments and human services are deployed daily to ensure safety in Ogun State" Odutola said.
