Panic for Manchester United fans as Onana gets called up by Cameroon

Manchester United goalkeeper Andre Onana has been recalled to the Cameroon national team.
Onana ended his association with the Cameroon national team and announced his retirement after a disagreement with head coach Rigobert Song at last year's World Cup in Qatar.

The new Man United signing was subsequently omitted from his nation's second game of the World Cup against Serbia before flying home immediately after.

Despite all of this, the 27-year-old has been named in his nation's squad ahead of their upcoming African Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualification fixture against Burundi on September 12.

AFCON is set to take place in Ivory Coast in January, as the 2023 edition was postponed for a year.

There is yet to be confirmation on whether Onana has accepted the invitation to return to the fold.

In the event Cameroon qualify for the tournament, and Onana is called up to the national team, United will be without their starting goalkeeper against Tottenham (January 13) and Wolverhampton Wanderers (January 30).
