The City boss reportedly flew to Barcelona to have an operation after suffering from severe back pain and is expected to spend the next few weeks in his hometown recuperating.

As a result, assistant manager Juanma Lillo will take charge of the team at least for the Sheffield United and Fulham matches.

Lillo returned to the club this summer after leaving the club in 2022 for a job in Qatar. He will now lead the club in search of maximum points in their coming fixtures after starting the season with wins over Burnley, Sevilla, and Newcastle
