'What the f*** is this? - Boxing fans can't believe their eyes as 'Professional Pillow Fighting' airs on ESPN in USA

Boxing fans have been left baffled after a video of 'Professional Pillow Fighting' went viral over the weekend.

The relatively new 'sport' is now being broadcast by ESPN in America, with bouts taking place inside boxing rings.

Pro Pillow Fighting is now televised in the USA

The PFC (Pillow Fight Championship) is the first professional international pillow-fighting sports association.

The about section of their website explains: "Pillow Fight Championship began with an idea to develop a real fighting sport that would appeal to the international family audience by combining the ancient weapon known as a 'pillow' with experienced MMA competitors and boxers an strict rules.

"However, PFC isn't just about hard-hitting pillow fighting, it's also about pure entertainment and fun!

"PFC has quickly evolved into a very popular sport-based showcase complete with all the strength, stamina and strategic skills of the other more brutal combat sports but with a massive amount of fun!

"PFC is all the thrill of a hand-to-hand combat fight without any blood and a lot more action!"

PFC CEO Steve Williams added: "The fighters don't like to get hurt, and there's a lot of people who don't want to see the blood.

"They want to see good competition, they just don't want to see the violence."

Over the weekend, boxing promoter Lou DiBella tweeted the viral clip of the sport with the caption: "WHAT. THE. F***. IS. THIS???????????????"

And fellow promoter Leonard Ellerbe added: "I said the same damn thing."

One boxing fan said: "You gotta be kidding."

Another replied: "Stop the world I wanna get off."

A third wrote: "I give up."
