Carlo Ancelotti speaks to Casemiro after Manchester United lost to Real Madrid

Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti sent a heartfelt message to Casemiro after Manchester United's 2-0 defeat in Houston.

The clash between the two European football giants saw the Brazilian defensive midfielder face Madrid for the first time since his transfer to Old Trafford last summer. At the time, it was reported Casemiro had become frustrated with his playing minutes at the Bernabeu and jumped at the chance to move to United as he sought a fresh challenge.

After his departure was announced, Luka Modric and Toni Kroos wrote an open letter to their former teammate paying tribute to his character and wishing him well in the future. Casemiro returned to face his former colleagues in Houston in front of 67,000 but didn't get the result he was hoping for.

Jude Bellingham gave Madrid the lead in the opening stages as he chipped Andre Onana on his United debut. The game was put to bed just a couple of minutes before full-time when an unmarked Joselu scored an outrageous bicycle kick to make it 2-0.

After the game, both sets of players remained on the pitch to chat, giving Ancelotti, Kroos and Modric the chance to catch-up with Casemiro. The good-natured conversation sparked a question to the former Everton boss about United's Brazilian in his press conference.

When asked about the relationship with Casemiro, Ancelotti replied: "Casemiro? We love him very much. For us, he's still a Real Madrid player. He's a Real Madrid legend."
