Lagos Elections: Police react to alleged attack on Igbos in Abule Ado

The Lagos State Police Command acknowledges the alleged attack on the Igbo community in the Abule Ado region of the state.

The attack took place shortly after the governorship and house of assembly elections were held in most parts of the state.

A viral video depicts two young Igbo men being carried into a vehicle after allegedly being injured by suspected political thugs near Festac Town in the Amuwo Odofin Local Government Area; an area significantly dominated by Southeasterners.

In response, the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, confirmed that normalcy has been restored by the security agency. The spokesperson stated that an intra-community fight broke out in the area earlier this morning, leading to property damage.

"Owing to the timely arrival of the police, no life was lost and no property was razed as widely claimed. Two persons have been arrested and investigation has commenced into the matter. Police officers remain on ground to prevent further breakdown of law and order," the PRO added.
