Gusto penned a contract until 2030, but will stay with Lyon until the end of the season.

The 19-year-old will likely provide competition for Reece James, who continues to struggle with injury problems.

Gusto is a France Under-21 international and one of the most promising young defenders in Ligue 1.

Since making his debut in 2021, he has featured 54 times for Lyon.

Chelsea continue to splash the cash under Todd Boehly since he replaced Roman Abramovich as owner in the summer.

They are fast approaching £500m spent in just two transfer windows.

This month alone, seven players have joined with Mykhailo Mudryk the biggest outlay at £88m from Shakhtar Donetsk.

Gusto joins Benoit Badiashile (£33.7m), Andrey Santos (£11m), David Datro Fofana (£10m), Joao Felix (£9.7m loan fee), and Noni Madueke (£35m) in joining the club this month.
