EPL: Ronaldo gives one-word response as Varane joins Man United

Juventus forward, Cristiano Ronaldo, has seemingly given his approval of Raphael Varane's move to Manchester United.

Man United agreed to a £41million deal with Real Madrid earlier this month to sign Varane.

Varane comes in as Man United's second marquee signing of the summer, following Jadon Sancho's arrival from Dortmund.

His move took longer to announce despite an agreement reportedly being in place for over a week.

But Man United apparently wanted to wait to unveil Varane at a full Old Trafford.

The France centre-back was given a warm reception as he made his way out onto the pitch ahead of Man United's Premier League 5-1 win against Leeds United on Saturday.

However, Man United legend, Rio Ferdinand, posted his approval of Man United's newest recruit on Instagram, sharing a short clip of the two embracing on the pitch.

The post has since drawn over one million views and it appears as though Ronaldo also caught a quick look at the video.

Ronaldo, a former Man United forward, responded to Ferdinand's post, writing "Grande".

The one-word post translates as "great" in Portuguese, suggesting Ronaldo approved of the transfer.

Meanwhile, Varane has since insisted that he wants to achieve a lot more at Man United.

He said: "Manchester United is one of the most iconic clubs in world football and the chance to come here and play in the Premier League is something I couldn't turn down.

"There is a lot more that I want to achieve in my career and I know I'm joining a squad full of great players who will all have the same determination to win matches and trophies."
